 | | | | | 10th June 2010 New Icons for the North A stunning new artwork set to become a new icon for Middlesbrough, Tees Valley and the North of England ’awakens' today.
Temenos was officially launched today (10th June 2010) by its creators Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond, who spoke of their love for the area and satisfaction with the finished sculpture.
Temenos was delivered thanks to significant funding from The Northern Way’s ground breaking programme launched in 2004. The Welcome to the North public art programme saw substantial investment in key public artworks across the North of England.
This programme recognised that well thought out and well realised public art could help to transform a location. Temenos is a strong example of this, and of the North investing in and delivering world class public artworks, set to be become the new icons of the north
