Leadership
The Northern Way was established as a partnership led by the
three northern Regional Development Agencies:
Our work is overseen by the Northern
Way Steering Group, chaired by Hugh Morgan Williams OBE,
which provides strategic direction to our work.
The Steering Group is supported by a Management
Group, chaired by the Chief Executive of One North East,
Alan Clarke, and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day
work of the Northern Way.
The
Northern Way team is led by a Director, Andrew Lewis, who
is responsible for the overall coordination of the Northern
Way, and oversight of the initiative as a whole. The
Northern Way team can be contacted at our address at the bottom
left of the screen.
Our work on transport is steered through the Northern
Transport Compact, which is chaired by Professor David
Begg.
Our work on innovation is
steered by the Innovation in Industry
Steering Group, which is chaired by Richard Maudslay
CBE.
City Regions
The Northern Way Growth Strategy identified the development
of the city regions as a key element in securing greater
prosperity of the North. The city regions are:
Liverpool
Central Lancashire
Manchester
Sheffield
Leeds
Hull and Humber Ports
Tees
Valley
Tyne and
Wear.
Senior officials from each of these city regions meet regularly
through the Northern Way City Region Forum, which
is chaired by Andrew Lewis.
Policy and Research
Our £6 million Policy and Research programme is
overseen by the Northern Way Research
Forum.
