Innovation in Industry

The Northern Way Innovation Programme builds on the previous work we have undertaken to support innovation assets across the North, but with a stronger focus on a relatively small number of key technology areas where the North can offer both research excellence and industrial capability.

The programme aims to:

• enable market driven and challenge-led innovation across the North
• create partnerships of businesses, research centres, large scales testing facilities and other partners in order to address commercial challenges and develop innovative supply chains
• develop the national and international reputation of the North in key market areas, by developing excellence and critical mass
• by alignment with national priorities, create opportunities for further investment, particularly from the TSB who we are working with closely on this programme.

The 4 priority areas being taken forward are Printable Electronics, Offshore Wind, Carbon Abatement Technology and Creative and Digital.
